These plinths are thrown on the pottery wheel and designed to be paired with a pillar candle or for elevating a treasure. These are made from hand harvested wild uku (clay) from Waiheke Island. It is fired raw to highlight the natural beauty of the clay.
These are available in 3 different blends of uku,
The darkest colour is a blend from Rangihoua and is a dusky light red uku.
The mid colour is a peachy cream uku from Blackpool and has lovely blushing and streaks.
The lightest colour is uku from Blackpool blended with a light clay which makes it a slightly yellow clay.
This is the tallest of three size plinths and is around 15cm tall and 12cm wide
Each piece is unique and perfect alone or in a grouping.
10% of all sales of wild Uku will be donated to Pirathi Marae here on Waiheke, Ngāti Paoa whenua.
